WELCOME...
I would like to thank all of the people who supported me in this campaign; especially my wife Julie, who stood by my side and kept us on course. This was truly a grassroots effort, one we should all be proud of. Cathy Hudgins ran a clean campaign and I commend her for that. While she was re-elected, I hope Cathy will consider her time as the Hunter Mill District Supervisor and think about how her actions in prior terms resulted in three candidates vying to replace her in this race.
I can assure you that I will continue to follow the actions of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and other area leaders and will remain involved in the community and within the local Republican Party. I may be a candidate again but at the very least I will support candidates in future local elections. I have learned through this campaign of the great sacrifice made by candidates for local office and I am now aware of the individual obligation I have as a citizen to contribute to the process both as a candidate and in support of candidates.
The Republicans in this district need to stand up tall and proud and be counted. There are basic principles that define Republicans and they are nothing to be ashamed of, fiscal conservatism, more local control of government with less federal involvement, increased faith in the people to manage their own affairs, and fewer governmental programs funded by our tax dollars to do for people what they can do for themselves. But maybe most important, a strong defense of our great nation, a defense that is damaged at the local level when local politicians disregard the role that their policies play in attracting people to break the law by coming into our country illegally.
My belief is that Republicans have allowed themselves to be divided and have lost site of the primary tenets that should bind us together, and are instead focusing on the myriad perspectives that define our less-important differences. As long as we remain a fractured and demoralized group, we have no voice; when we gather together under the common philosophies that unite us, we will again have power, but not before.
